Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Recreation Programs is currently seeking an Office Assistant for the summer of 2010. This position will provide front line reception and clerical support in Chatham, with possible shifts in Blenheim and Wallaceburg as required. This position will report to the Program Clerical Assistant. This position would work up to 35 hours per week, from approximately the end of May, 2010, for a period up to the end of August, 2010.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical assistance to the CKRec Team (Recreation Programs)
- Assist with CLASS registration for CKRec Programs via phone, in person & internet
- Provide customer service/information to clients and Call Centre/Municipal Centres
- Front desk assistance at Gable Rees Rotary Pool and Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool if required
Qualifications:
- For those positions that are subject to receiving student subsidy funding; the funding requires summer students to be attending a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the spring 2010 semester, and returning to a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the fall 2010 semester
- For those positions not receiving student subsidy funding, to be eligible students must have attended a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the spring of 2010, and/or attending a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2010
- Because of the responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to those students in grade 10 and above
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Word and Excel software applications
- Working knowledge of CLASS software an asset
- Experience in customer service and cash handling
- Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working with a wide range of people
- Knowledge of dry land and aquatic recreation programming an asset
- Because this position would be required to travel, a valid Province of Ontario driver's license with a reliable motor vehicle is necessary
- Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment

Compensation:
This summer student position has an hourly wage range of $11.00 to $12.50 (currently under review) (as per the 2010 student compensation plan), plus vacation and statutory benefits according to the employment standards act.
