Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Recreation Programs is currently seeking students for Activity Leaders for March Break 2010. Reporting to the Program Coordinator, these positions run for one week (March 15 to March 19, 2010) for approximately 40 hours, subject to change.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the planning and implementation of a variety of camp activities suitable for the age, abilities and interests of campers
· Behaviour management for site participants
· Participating in all aspects of the program – skating, crafts, games, cleaning and program development
· Implement the philosophies of HIGH FIVE
Qualifications:
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to those students currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary education
· Because of the responsibilities of the program for leaders, applicants must be 14 years of age or older to apply
· Previous experience working with children between the ages of 4 and 12 an asset
· Current Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR
· Certified with the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development
· Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment
Compensation:
This student position has an hourly wage rate of $9.50 (based on our 2010 student compensation plan), plus vacation pay benefits in accordance with Employment Standards Act.
