Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent requires two ECE Students at the Wallaceburg Childcare Learning Centre and three ECE Students at the Chatham Childcare Learning Centre, to work with children 18 months to 5 years of age. These positions would work a total of 35 per week, from approximately May 31, 2010, for a period up to September 3, 2010.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare weekly program plans
· Provide a safe environment for children
· Work as a team member
· Maintain a positive relationship with children and parents
· Carry out additional tasks of a non-program nature as directed
Qualifications:
· This summer student position is subject to receiving student subsidy funding; the funding requires the summer student to be attending a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the spring 2010 semester, and returning to a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the fall 2010 semester
o Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
o Attending a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the spring 2010 semester, and returning to a secondary or post-secondary institution full-time in the fall 2010 semester
o Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
o Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to Early Child Educator graduates returning to school in the Child & Youth Worker or other post-secondary program; students who have completed their first year of the ECE program and returning in the fall of will also be considered
· Early Childhood Educator’s must apply to the College of E.C.E upon graduation
· Previous experience working in a childcare setting an asset
· Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment
Interviews will take place between April 26 and May 7, 2010.
Compensation:
This summer student position has an hourly wage range of $12.50 to $14.50 (based on the 2010 student compensation plan), plus vacation and statutory benefits according to the Employment Standards Act.
