Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent requires one or more Clerical Assistant/Case Aids in the Employment and Social Services Division at the Centre for Community Services in Chatham. This position would work a total of 35 hours per week, for a period of May 14, 2012 to August 31, 2012.

Responsibilities:
· Provide reception and support to customers at the Employment and Social Services office as well as our Employment Resource Centres
· Provide clerical assistance to Employment and Social Service staff, including assisting with the collection of information, data entry regarding clients into a dedicated computer systems, processing incoming and outgoing mail, records management
· Assist with special projects in partnership with community agencies and other municipal departments to support Employment and Social Service operations
· Assist with daily, monthly cheque production
Qualifications:
· This position is subject to receiving Federal or Provincial government student funding; the funding requires the summer student to be:
§ Attending school full-time in the spring of 2012 (normally ending April/May/June), and returning to school full-time in the fall of 2012 (normally starting August/September)
§ Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
§ Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
§ Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to:
o Enrolled in a post-secondary university school program, specifically Social Work, Psychology, Sociology (or other related program)
o Experience in customer service and working with the public
o Administrative/clerical experience working in an office environment
· Experience working with families/individuals in need would be an asset
· Experience in crisis intervention would be an asset
· Experience with SDMT (Service Delivery Model Technology) would be an asset
· Advanced computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office Word, Excel, etc.)
· Proven ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail
· Because this position may be required to travel, a valid Province of Ontario driver's license with a reliable motor vehicle is preferred
· All summer students will be required to complete their Health & Safety and other on-line mandatory training before their first day of employment
Interviews:
Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the last two weeks in March 2012
Compensation:
This summer student position has an hourly wage rate of $11.00 to $12.50 (based on the 2011 student compensation plan), plus vacation and statutory benefits according to the employment standards act.
