Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent requires a seasonal part-time Preschool/Youth Teacher/Instructor for Recreation Programs. This seasonal position runs from September for a period up to June the following year, and is for approximately three to nine hours per week. This individual will be involved in the delivery of quality programs and activities to preschool children (up to age 6) in a safe and caring environment, as well as maintain excellent communication with children, parents, staff and supervisors.
Responsibilities
· Delivering creative program planning for a 6 to 12 week program for preschool children up to age 6 to include music, stories, gross & fine motor skill activities and quiet games while maintaining a safe, caring and nurturing environment
· Teaching the development, socialization and themed activities of children while attending the program
· Compile and maintain a file of appropriate themes, crafts, games and music relative to the program
· Responsible for the clean up and storage of pre-school equipment at year end
· Process all program financial documents for payment purposes (invoices, Visa, pay-sheets and petty cash)
· Communicating with both the parents and participants of the program when issues and needs are identified
· Consult and evaluate with the Program Development Coordinator in program development and enhancement
· Coordinating with all other staff from the pre-school programs
· Contact, inform and schedule the Facility Staff as required for room preparation and equipment set up
· Enforce all administration policies and rules as well as all safety guidelines governing the students
· Exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality as a Preschool Instructor with parents, staff, children and management
Qualifications:
· Possess a college diploma in Early Childhood Education (E.C.E), Child Development or related field , with up to one year of practical experience in a related field
· First Aid and CPR (child care)
· Good judgment and problem solving skills are an asset
· Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment
Compensation:
This part time seasonal position has an hourly wage rate of $13.74 to $14.94 (2010 rates based on grade 3B of the 2010 non-union part-time compensation plan), plus vacation and statutory benefits in accordance with Employment Standards Act.
