Job Description:
The Chatham Kent Public Library requires an individual to fill a permanent part-time Page position at the Blenheim Library for approximately 10 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
· Shelving and shelf-reading of all library material
· Emptying drop boxes
· Maintaining the periodical and pamphlet collections
· General clean-up duties both inside and outside the Library
· Checking in returned materials
· Assisting with programs
· Other duties as may be assigned on an occasional basis
Qualifications:
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, applicants must be 14 years of age or older
· Attention to detail, neatness; good organizational skills and the ability to work independently is required
· Previous experience working in a library is an asset
· Previous customer service experience is an asset
· Previous experience working with children an asset
· Previous experience in classifying documents (alphabetical, numerical, alphanumerical) an asset
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, candidates are required to: have physical stamina; flexibility; good physical health; able to lift 25-35 pounds (11-15 kilograms); able to stand for extended periods of time; able to bend, kneel and reach
· Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish a Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment
Please note: the interview process may involve testing
Compensation:
The hourly wage range for this part-time position is $10.25 to $10.51 (based on grade 1 of the 2010 non-union part-time compensation plan), plus vacation pay and statutory benefits in accordance with Employment Standards Act.
