Job Description:

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is currently accepting applications for their External Job Registry for future seasonal part-time Canteen Attendants for up to 24 hours per week which will include evenings and weekends.  Positions may be located at any of the following Arenas:  Blenheim, Bothwell, Chatham, Dresden, Ridgetown, Tilbury, Wallaceburg, and/or Wheatley.  Positions could be up to the middle of April 2011, depending on location.

 

Career Profiles and resumes will be accepted starting July 1, 2010, for a period up to 4:30 p.m. on December 31, 2010, will be kept on file for future seasonal part-time and call-in positions during this period.  Please only apply once during this period.  Please visit JOBS at www.chatham-kent.ca for re-application information following December 31, 2010.

 

Responsibilities:

·          Operation of canteen equipment; maintain concession and equipment in an organized, clean manner at all times

·          Keep items well stocked and displayed in an appealing and organized manner

·          Prepare food and drink products using proper food  handling techniques

·          Clean and sanitize concession thoroughly before leaving

·          Perform and reconcile all cash handling duties as required

·          Sell tickets for public skating; deal courteously with public

 

Qualifications:

·          Because of the responsibilities of this position, applicants must be 15 years of age or older

·          Ability to deliver excellent customer service to the public

·          Candidate must demonstrate good leadership and communication skills

·          Food service background and knowledge in the concession industry would be an asset

·          Ability to work with minimal or no supervision; must be responsible and reliable

·          Knowledge of cash registers and reconciliation of cash would be an asset

·          Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment

 

Compensation:

This permanent seasonal part time position has an hourly wage of $11.11 to $12.08 (2010 rates based on grade 2B of the 2010 non-union part-time compensation plan), plus vacation pay and statutory benefits in accordance with Employment Standards Act.
