Job Information:
The Water & Wastewater Division of the Chatham-Kent PUC requires a permanent full-time Operator for the Central Water/Wastewater area. The successful candidate will report to the Wheatley Water/Wastewater Treatment system located in Wheatley Ontario.
Operators Job Description:
· Carrying out regular inspections of the plant and systems, operating and maintaining process control equipment in order to ensure that the plants are operating in accordance with standards established by the Ministry of Environment
· Carrying out regular inspections of Collection and Distribution systems, pump stations and booster stations
· Assisting in water main operations and maintenance.
· Carrying out sampling and routine laboratory tests as required
· Providing assistance to Maintenance personnel in day-to-day equipment up-keep
· Maintaining grounds and buildings
· On Call on rotating basis with a 30 minute response time, and working regularly scheduled weekends
Qualifications:
· Possess an Ontario Secondary School graduation diploma (or equivalent, i.e. GED); a post-secondary degree/diploma in a related discipline an asset
· Mechanical and/or electrical experience required
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, preference will be given to those applicants who possess extensive electrical experience and/or Electrical license
· Ministry of the Environment Operator in Training (OIT) Certification (Water/Wastewater, Treatment, Collection and Distribution)
· Because of the responsibilities, this position requires the successful candidate to have a valid (class G) Ontario driver’s licence; a driver’s abstract will be conducted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent
Note: Because of the responsibilities of this position, Ministry of Environment (MOE) and the CEP Local 2003 collective agreement requires on-call personnel be able to respond within 30 minutes; preference will be given to those candidates who currently live within 30 minutes, or are willing to relocate within a 30 minute radius, of the plant where a position may become available.
Compensation:
This position has an hourly wage rate of $21.81 to $27.55, plus benefits, following the successful completion of a probationary period, as per the CEP Local 2003 collective agreement.
