Job Information:
The Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission is currently accepting applications for their 2010 External Job Registry for future permanent and temporary full-time Operators for Water & Wastewater Services, working throughout Chatham-Kent.
Career Profiles and resumes will be received starting January 1, 2010, for a period up to 4:30 p.m. on November 30, 2010. Applications will be kept on file until December 31, 2010. Operators Job Description:
· Performing regular inspections and operational duties associated with the various water and wastewater plants, pumping stations and distribution/collection systems
· Performing preventative maintenance duties and repairs to equipment
· Collecting samples and/or performing routine laboratory analysis
· Maintaining grounds and buildings
Qualifications:
· Possess an Ontario Secondary School graduation diploma
· Mechanical and/or electrical experience required
· Ministry of the Environment Operator in Training (OIT) Certification in Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment required
· Because of the responsibilities, this position requires the successful candidate to have a valid (class G) Ontario driver’s licence; a driver’s abstract will be conducted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent
Note: Because of the responsibilities of this position, Ministry of Environment (MOE) and the CEP Local 2003 collective agreement requires on-call personnel be able to respond within 30 minutes; preference will be given to those candidates who currently live within 30 minutes, or are willing to relocate within a 30 minute radius, of the plant where a position may become available.
Compensation:
The above positions will be paid an hourly rate as per the CEP (Communications, Energy and Paperworkers) Union collective agreement.
