Job Description:

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent requires a full-time, permanent Supervisor, Ontario Works at the Chatham-Kent Centre for Community Services in Chatham.  This position will report directly to the Program Manager, Ontario Works.

 

Responsibilities:

·          Providing supervision, direction and guidance to a team of Employment Caseworkers and/or Income Support Caseworkers to ensure effective delivery of the Ontario Works Program.

·          Analyze and Interpret legislation and regulations; assist in developing local policy and procedures.

·          Developing and delivering orientation and ongoing training as required in all aspects of casework, ensuring that their knowledge of policy, procedures and applicable legislation is current and conducive to effecting good client services.

·          Conducting performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.

·          Scheduling adequate coverage of caseworkers.

·          Responding to inquiries/concerns from the public, other levels of government, community agencies.

·          Prepare documentation for submission to Court; Internal Appeals and Submissions to the Social Benefits Tribunal.

·          Assist in designing and implementing proposals for the funding and delivery of new programs including community partnerships.

·          Assist in developing the budget for the Ontario Works Program, monitoring and exercising control over the spending of a budget allocation of approximately 29.5 million annually.

·          Assist in completing service contracts for the Ministry and completely quarterly and annual reports.

·          Maintaining and evaluating statistics in order to assess the viability of various Ontario Works Programs and to determine staffing levels.

·          Assisting in the development and implementation of the department’s business plan.

·          Represent the Municipality on groups and/or boards, both internal and external

 

Qualifications:

·          Possess a University Degree in Social Sciences or Social Work field from a recognized university.

·          Minimum of six years experience in direct delivery of Ontario Works.

·          Proven excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and time management skills are essential.

·          Familiar with other levels of Government, ancillary legislation and community agencies.

·          Proven ability to assess participant employability as it relates to general life skills, motivation and attitudes.

·          Familiarity with other income support and employment assistance programs.

·          Proficient in computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

·          Must be proficient in Service Delivery Model Technology (SDMT).

·          Because this position would be required to travel, a valid Province of Ontario driver's license with a reliable motor vehicle is necessary

 

Compensation:

This permanent full-time position has an annual salary range of $64,555 to $72,996 (based upon Grade 9 of the 2010 non-union full-time compensation plan), plus benefits, following the successful completion of a 90-day probation period.
