The Water & Wastewater division of the Chatham-Kent PUC requires a permanent full-time Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician for the Chatham Water Pollution Control Plant, 100 Irwin Street, Chatham. This position may also be required to work in Tilbury or Wheatley.
Responsibilities:
· Maintaining the mechanical and electrical equipment in good operation of the Chatham Water Pollution Control Plant & all facilities in the Central region
· Performing preventative maintenance duties and repairs to equipment by carrying out a program of routine lubrication; following preventative maintenance procedures by checking machinery and electrical equipment when required and overhauling or assisting with the overhauling of equipment if necessary
· To carry out regular inspections of the plant and to operate and maintain process control equipment to insure that the plant is operating in accordance with standards established by the Ministry of the Environment
· Carrying out sampling and routine laboratory tests as required at the Chatham plant and on the various systems; recording all testing results for statistical purposes and records
· Assist in operational duties as required
· Ensuring the security of the projects
· Required to be on-call on a rotating basis for all facilities and systems
Qualifications:
· Possess an Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent education (i.e. GED) (See the Ministry of the Environments information on grade 12 equivalency at: http://www.ontario.ca/drinkingwater/244445.pdf)
· Electrical Certificate of Qualification required
· Ministry of Environmental Certification (candidates must currently possess or be able to obtain their Operator in Training (OIT) certifications within 90 days of employment) (for information on OIT certification, please see http://www.ontario.ca/ONT/portal51/drinkingwater/General?docId=264817&lang=en)

· Extensive background in PLC, SCADA, motor control, inverter systems, three phase systems, preventative maintenance, and trouble shooting
· Preference will be given to those with extensive Mechanical Maintenance and Electrician experience
· Because of the responsibilities of this position, Ministry of Environment (MOE) and the CEP Local 2003 collective agreement requires on-call personnel be able to respond within 30 minutes; preference will be given to those candidates who currently live within 30 minutes, or are willing to relocate within a 30 minute radius, of the Chatham Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), 100 Irwin Street, Chatham
· Because of responsibilities, this position requires the successful candidate to have a valid (class G) Ontario driver’s licence: a driver’s abstract will be conducted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent
Compensation:
This permanent full-time position has an hourly wage rate of $25.21 to $28.21, plus benefits as per the CEP Local 2003 collective agreement following successful completion of a three month probationary period.
