Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a permanent full-time Financial Analyst III. This position reports to the Supervisor, Accounting Operations, and is responsible for maintaining financial accounting system and providing accounting and clerical support to Financial Analysts and Purchasing Officer and other departmental support as required.
Responsibilities:
This position performs functions in both the Financial Analyst area and in the Purchasing division at two works sites in the Civic Centre. Some of the shared responsibilities are:
• Ensuring financial transactions are accurately processed on a timely basis
• Performing account analysis
• Supporting financial analysts in performing reconciliations, account balancing, and general ledger maintenance
• Supporting financial analysts in preparation of financial statements and audit preparation
• Learning fund accounting concepts, and internal policies and procedures required to solve routine problems
• Support the purchasing officer in preparing purchasing documents, merging documents and posting documents to the municipal web site
• Prepare documentation and attend weekly tender opening meetings
• Ensure tenders/contracts have the proper documentation for signing; review all tenders, assemble, and return to originating department
• Type, disburse and file all purchase orders
• Assist with electronic Purchase Order training
• Provide purchasing information to contractors on a regular basis
• Provide front counter and phone service to Purchasing
• Supporting other departmental functions as required
Qualifications:
• Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) prior to commencement of employment
