Job Description:
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a permanent full time Financial Analyst II (Collections). This position is responsible for providing accounting and collection support; and administrative duties by preparing legal documents and assisting with Municipal tax registrations, Small Claims Court, Land Registry, Collection Agencies, Municipal Property Assessment Corporation and property dispositions.

Responsibilities:
· Administration, creation, tracking of payment plans as well as assisting in the monitoring of daily collection activities for approximately 6,000 accounts with the ability to solve routine problems and work independently
· Maintenance of the files and databases for the tax sale and municipal owned properties
· Maintenance, preparation, registration and circulation of electronic and manual tax sale documents as required by the Municipal Act
· Preparation of court documents regarding collection agency, small claims court, garnishment, bankruptcy, seizure and sale documents
· Assist with land registry and sheriff office searches within the Teranet network
· Provide proficient support in preparation of reports evaluating the status of accounts
· Research and assist Collections Officer with severance apportionment of taxes
· Analyze and reconcile control accounts; make recommendations; and participate in the review, evaluation, development, and implementation of improved concepts for collection controls in compliance with legislation
· Coordinate with various departments and residents to gather, analyze, and mediate disputes regarding internal/external inquiries and outstanding miscellaneous accounts
· Ability to maintain composure when dealing with difficult, angry or upset customers
· Assist with Ministry of Attorney General Provincial Offence procedures as required
· Perform general office duties in a group/team environment that involves confidential information
