Accounting Clerk

Job description:
The Chatham-Kent Utility Services Inc. has an opening for one permanent full-time Accounting Clerk and one temporary contract Accounting Clerk for a period up to four months that will report to Manager of Accounting.
Key Responsibilities and Position Expectations:
· Strong analytical skills
· Performs the accounts payable function for Chatham-Kent Energy and its affiliates
· Analyses and prepares miscellaneous billings, follow up for payment and maintain the sub-ledger
· Prepares all government remittances, i.e. Ministry of Finance, Revenue Canada excluding payroll.
· Liaises with external contacts, i.e. Vendors, customers, Ontario Power Authority
· Prepares truck time uploads to post to Financial Information Systems
· Assists in the implementation of a computerized fixed asset tracking system
· Maintains vehicle fuel costing records
· Assists in daily bank review when needed
· Assists in daily operation of job costing /work order system
· Self starter who works well independently, and within a team environment
· Effectively communicates verbal/written/email messages in a timely manner to a variety of internal and external customers
· All aspects of Customer accounts including but not limited to – Billing, Collections, Call Centre, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
· Conveys information accurately and consistently
· Maintains confidentiality of issues and concerns
· Performs duties in a timely manner
· Provides exceptional customer service skills
Qualifications:
· Possess a post-secondary diploma from a Business Administration Program, with two to four years of related experience
· Customer Service and/or Public Relations courses would be an asset
· Customer Service experience (i.e. greeting customers, providing service information, receiving payments, handling complaints, etc.)
· Requires strong inter-personal and communication skills
· Possess good telephone/customer service skills to respond effectively/tactfully to customers
· Experience in a computerized office environment
· Experience working in a unionized environment
· Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) (to be completed by your local police department) prior to commencement of employment
Compensation:
The permanent full-time position has an hourly wage of $15.80, plus benefits as per the I.B.E.W. (Inside Unit) collective agreement.
