There are six objectives within the Community Strategic Plan. These six objectives are essential to building a quality of life in Chatham-Kent that is second to none.

When these objectives are met, Chatham-Kent will become a primary example of sustainable smart growth, partnership development, and community economic development.

B1. Promote and market Chatham-Kent
B2. Make Chatham-Kent a business-friendly community and a
      desirable leisure destination
B3. Maintain and enhance new and existing infrastructure to
      support economic and smart growth opportunities
B4. Encourage the continuing growth of a diversified and
      sustainable economic base


C     environment                we are a green community

C1. Develop pride in the community for its environmental assets
C2. Establish standards for environmental excellence
C3. Promote protection and restoration of our natural resources
C4. Promote responsible consumption of non-renewable resources


D     culture                          we are a cultural community

D1. Celebrate and support heritage, arts, and cultural events and
      programs
D2. Protect and promote heritage, arts and cultural areas and
      resources
D3. Provide recognition to people and organizations that make
      significant contributions to our heritage, arts and culture
D4. Encourage the community to embrace divergent heritage, arts,
      and cultural expressions


E     civic engagement       we are an engaged community

E1. Identify opportunities for voluntary action and encourage, train 
     and recognize volunteers
E2. Encourage public input and participation in decision-making on
     all community issues
E3. Enhance networking and communication opportunities 
     throughout Chatham-Kent
E4. Support leadership programs with a focus on youth

F1. Enhance population literacy
F2. Support the delivery of lifelong learning programs
F3. Increase participation by all ages in training, education and
