The Municipality of Chatham-Kent announced today that four new members have joined Council's Strategic Planning Committee. The committee's role is to advise Chatham-Kent Council and community leaders about anything to do with the Community Strategic Plan, the plan that helps our community to develop cultural and recreational opportunities, support sustainable growth in business and industry, recruit new residents and support effective local government.
Councillors Anne Gilbert and Brian King represent Chatham-Kent Council on the committee, which is chaired by Ken Tremblay, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Council has selected the additional members to fill vacant seats on the committee:
- Patricia Arango - Residential Manager, Chatham Kent Women's Centre
- Ronald Dekker - Professional Engineer, BDK Engineering Inc.
- Robert Rankin - Lawyer, Rankin Law Firm
- Marlee Robinson - President, Art Matters Ltd.
The following citizens continue as members of the committee:
- Ken Tremblay (Chair) - President and Chief Executive Officer, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance
- Dr. Jim Lemak - Chiropractor, Lemak Chiropractic Clinic
- Leon Leclair - Farmer, Leclair's Hidden Hills Farm
- Jamie McGrail - Ag Management Solutions (AMS) Consultant, McGrail Farm Equipmt Partnership Ltd.
- Launa McMahon-Deline - Physiotherapist, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance
- Hans VanDerDoe - Transport Truck Driver
- Brian Case (Vice-Chair) - Sales Consultant, Tilbury Chrysler
- Patrick Weaver - Chief Executive Officer, WINDRIDE Transportation
- Karen Kirkwood-Whyte - Executive Director, United Way of Chatham-Kent
Chair Ken Tremblay has been with the committee since 2004 and says he is pleased with its progress: “I believe that Chatham-Kent has many wonderful resources that can be brought together to help this community have a very bright future.”
This year, the Strategic Planning Committee is taking three new initiatives:
1. Encouraging all community leaders to consider the community’s strategic directions when developing plans for their own organizations
2. An event celebrating World Town Planning Day November 8 that will bring together Chatham-Kent youth and community leaders who are committed to the essential role of community planning
3. A speakers’ bureau that will provide speakers on the topics of strategic planning for both community organizations and the community itself
