Special Funding Available for Community Projects Under the new Recreation and Parks Partnership Program

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is pleased to announce the creation of the new two-year, $500,000 Recreation and Parks Partnership Program. Organizations with capital projects in mind for 2010-2011 are invited and strongly encouraged to apply for funding of up to 50% of project costs, to a maximum of $50,000 per project (with the minimum grant amount being $20,000)

“Council allocating this money to our Recreation and Parks infrastructure shows their commitment in making Chatham-Kent one of the best, most active and healthy communities to live in”, says Mayor Randy Hope. “The partnerships that will be created between the municipality, community organizations and businesses in Chatham-Kent will go a long way to strengthen our community.”

The deadline for Letters of Intent under this special round of funding is Friday, April 30, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. Letter of Intent forms and grant guidelines are available at all Municipal Service Centres, Information Desks, and libraries throughout Chatham-Kent and are also available online at www.chatham-kent.ca (under the Community Services heading, choose the “Getting Involved” link).

The Recreation and Parks Partnership Program will be a two-step process, which will consist of a Letter of Intent and the subsequent submission of a full application. A review committee made up of representatives from various municipal departments will review all Letters of Intent. Applicants whose Letters of Intent meet all requirements and comply with the guidelines will be invited to submit full applications.
