Council Awards Funding to 40 Local Groups for Community Improvement Projects

Media Release
For Immediate Release
February 14, 2011

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is pleased to announce that 20 community groups have been awarded grants totaling $115,000 through the Mainstream component of the 2011 Community Partnership Fund (CPF) and that a further 20 groups have been awarded grants totaling $91,101.50 under the Festivals & Events component of the CPF. Three additional community groups have been awarded grants totaling $13,994.44 through the Social Assistance Restructuring (SAR) fund. This funding will permit these groups to proceed with 23 community improvement projects and 20 local festivals and events, and is in keeping with the Municipality’s commitment to encourage community development through partnerships with community groups.

“Partnerships between community organizations and the municipality are key in accomplishing our overall goals. Supporting these groups in their endeavors enables them to proceed with community projects that may not have otherwise been achieved”, says Mayor Randy Hope.

On February 14, 2011 Council approved the following funding under the Mainstream component of the CPF:
