Chatham-Kent Police Services

The Chatham-Kent Police Service was created on September 1, 1998. Our Municipal Police Service was the result of amalgamating four municipal police services and the take over of Ontario Provincial Policing responsibilities in Kent County. The Chatham-Kent Police Service in partnership with our Community will provide quality, professional, accountable and compassionate policing.

Based on the founding principles of professional, efficient and effective law enforcement service to our 110,000 residents and challenged by the extensive amalgamated area of our Municipality, our dedicated staff are building strong community partnerships through progressive community oriented policing practices.

The OPP maintains approximately 163 local detachment and satellite offices throughout the province, in addition to OPP General Headquarters, five Regional Headquarters locations and the Highway Safety Division. The OPP places a significant emphasis on services related to community-level policing and to traffic safety. Members of the O.P.P. work collaboratively with municipal leaders, police services boards, community policing advisory committees and community groups to plan and deliver quality, front-line municipal and First Nations' policing and law enforcement at the local level.
