Training is the cornerstone for the delivery of fire protection services to the residents of Chatham-Kent. Regardless of the services delivered to our customers, there is a need for highly-trained and well-developed staff capable of responding to any fire protection need in our community. A list of Training Subjects is provided to the right of this page.
The Training and Development Division is responsible for ensuring that all fire department personnel are competent in their abilities to meet the needs of the residents we serve. The division is also responsible for continuous upgrading, competency and proficiency of fire department staff as well as ensuring that a training and development plan is in place which ensures that all officers are capable of assuming the duties and responsibilities of the next rank.
Training for the volunteer and career staff is delivered through a number of mediums including company and senior officers, Ontario Fire College instruction and technical specialists. Some of the members of the Chatham-Kent Fire Department have graduated from the programs offered at the college.
