Fire safety in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is the responsibility of the Fire Chief, supported by over 400 firefighters and staff who make up the Chatham-Kent Fire Department. As a department we have a commitment to fight fires, save lives, educate the public and protect the environment.
The Chatham-Kent Fire Department is a large composite department, which draws upon the multitude of talents and abilities provided by our personnel throughout the community. The community vision and supporting objectives of the municipality are carried forward daily by our members.
Amalgamated in 1998, the Chatham-Kent Fire Department brought together firefighters from twenty-three communities, working together to provide a seamless delivery of high quality service to the public. Each station is involved in supporting their community, and the firefighters from each station make contributions of time and effort at emergencies and local events throughout the year.
Today the members of this department continually improve, ensuring that our customers receive effective, efficient, safe and professional fire protection. Much time is dedicated to training, planning and preparation in order to ensure that our response to assist the people of Chatham-Kent exceeds expectations. As the Fire Chief, I am proud to be associated with these firefighters. This group of individuals demonstrates a deep commitment to the community every time the alarm sounds.
I urge you to do your part to help keep our community safe. Plan an escape route from your home. Establish a meeting place for your family, and once out, stay out. Store matches, lighters and candles away from children. Make safety a daily part of your life, and take the time to remove potential hazards wherever possible. Finally, remember the simplest message, "Smoke alarms save lives!" Each residence should have at least one smoke alarm on every level of the home and outside all sleeping areas.
Our area of the website is designed to provide you with information about the fire department, fire prevention and fire safety for your home and workplace. Through education we can all help to make Chatham-Kent a safe place to live, work and play.
Thank you for visiting us.
If this is an emergency, dial 911.
