Assistant Chief Ric Scharf accepted the position of Assistant Chief of Training and Development for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent in October 2003. His past work experiences include; Firefighter and Captain with the Department. He has also received his Master Trainer Facilitator Certificate, Dive Master Certificate and Paramedic Certification.
Chief Scharf is responsible for coordinating and/or delivering of ongoing training for all Chatham-Kent Fire personnel, all department training records, assessment of training needs, and the oversight of the department’s Specialty Teams (Dive, High Angle, Ice/Water Rescue). He also administers all health and safety issues, records and reports. Chief Scharf serves as an alternate Community Emergency Management Coordinator within the Municipality.
Chief Scharf currently holds memberships with National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI), Ontario Association of Emergency Managers (OAEM) and Ontario Association of Fire Training Officers (OAFTO).
