Travel Vaccine Clinic

Immunization for Travel is currently being held at the Chatham-Kent Public Health Services.  W. David Colby, MSc,. MD., FRCP  (C), is the Director and full time Travel Medicine Physician. Dr. Colby is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Medical Microbiology, with University appointments and experience in Travel Medicine.

Services offered by Dr. Colby include:

  • Travel advice and immunization (no referral necessary)
  • Pre-travel medical assessments (no referral necessary)
  • Executive security counselling and anti-terrorists preventative measures
  • Education about travel hazards for travel agencies, schools, missionary group's etc

Pre-Travel medical services were de-listed by OHIP effective July 1, 1998. This means that you must now pay the doctor's fees yourself.

Vaccines are supplied tax-free on site (no extra trip to the pharmacy to get vaccines), often at less than the normal cost of unit doses.

Under Article 66 of the International Health Regulations, "the vaccinating centre for Yellow Fever must have been designated by the health administration for the territory in which it is situated." In Canada, Health Canada's Quarantine, Travel and Migration Health designates Yellow Fever Centres. Yellow Fever vaccination can only be provided at designated Yellow Fever Centres. The Travel Clinic in Chatham has been designed as a Yellow Fever Centre.

Clinics are held in Chatham on a monthly basis at Chatham-Kent Public Health Services, 435 Grand Ave. W.  Clients who wish to have a consulation with Dr. Colby can call directly to make an appointment at 1-888-426-6165 or (519) 663-3395 or email at travel@mlhu.on.ca
