Wallaceburg is located at the northern border of Chatham-Kent, 30 minutes from both Highways 401 and 402.

Wallaceburg is only 45 minutes from the Sarnia/Port Huron border crossing via Highway 402. Two border crossings in Windsor/Detroit are only 90 minutes away. There are also two border crossing points within 10 minutes of Wallaceburg for private and small commercial vehicles via ferry crossings.

Wallaceburg is a major centre for machine tool, die and mould makers. The community is also home to a number of automotive component manufacturers of brass and aluminum forgings.

Major industries in Wallaceburg include:

  • Wabtec Foundry Limited (372 employees), manufacturer of grey and ductile iron castings
  • Aar-Kel Moulds (160 employees), manufacturer of plastic injection moulds and die cast moulds for the automotive industry
  • H.E. Vannatter (150 employees) tool and die manufacturer for aluminum and magnesium diecast dies and plastic moulds.

St. Clair College's James A. Burgess Skills Centre offers secondary apprenticeship and post-secondary programs. 

The community's health centre is located at the Sydenham Campus of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. It has 75 in-patient beds and a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services offered to both out-patients and in-patients.



The Sydenham River winds through Wallaceburg providing beautiful scenery and boating opportunities.  The area is particularly popular as a destination for duck hunting and fishing.

Additional recreational facilities include athletic fields, an indoor pool, playgrounds, tennis courts, a skateboard park, a golf course, a dinner theatre and a gallery/museum.

A diverse downtown area with unique shops situated along the picturesque Sydenham River make a shopping trip to Wallaceburg a special and relaxing experience.

The community has a workforce base of approximately 5,430 people.
