Ridgetown is a picturesque snapshot of the elegant Victorian period with modern-day amenities housed in beautiful architecture and complemented with landscaped streets. Located in the south eastern corner of Chatham-Kent, the community is situated 10 minutes from Highway 401 with easy on-off access at Highway 21.

The bustling downtown offers a unique mix of boutiques and specialty shops.
Major industries in Ridgetown include:
- Thyssen Krupp Fabco (200 employees), producers of automotive stampings and welding
- KSR International (350 employees) manufacturers of brake and clutch pedal modules and latching mechanisms for the OEM automotive market
The community is well known for University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus (an agricultural college and satellite campus employing 85 people). University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus is a centre for research and education for the agri-food sector and related industries in Southwestern Ontario. The college's curriculum includes: agri-business, horticulture and veterinary technology.

The Ridgetown Ag Business Centre, a joint venture between University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus and the Municipality of Chatham-Kent is located on the college grounds.
Ridgetown is a popular stop for tourists because of the close proximity to Lake Erie and Rondeau Provincial Park. Recreational facilities include athletic fields, an outdoor swimming pool, a skateboard park, arena and the Ridge House Museum.

Ridgetown is host to an annual birding festival "Festival of Flight" held in May, attracting tourists from all across North America.
Ridgetown is home to the most mature golf course in Chatham-Kent, the Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club.
