Chatham
Chatham is the largest urban centre within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.  It is situated seven minutes from Highway 401 off of one of two interchanges.

With the Thames River running through the core, Chatham's beautiful historic downtown features a vast selection of fine boutiques, stores and services housed in beautifully restored buildings.

Chatham is within a one-hour drive from Windsor/Detroit, Sarnia/Port Huron and London.  Many national and international businesses have chosen to establish in Chatham including the following OEM and Tier One automotive parts producers:

• International Truck & Engine Corp., (770 employees), assembly plant for Class 8 Navistar brand heavy trucks.

• Meritor Suspension Systems (270 employees), producing automotive suspension components, stabilizer and torsion bars for cars and pick-up trucks.

  The agri-business is strong in Chatham-Kent.  There are several grain and soybean producers based in the community.

• Pioneer Hi-Bred (Dupont Agriculture and Nutrition) - (200 employees) providers of agricultural seeds (corn, soybeans, canola, alfalfa, wheat, sunflowers, sorghum), silage innoculates and information services.

 Greenfield Ethanols (73 employees), providers of fuel, ethanol, industrial alcohol, distillers of grains, animal feed, and carbon dioxide.
 

Union Gas Limited (A Spectra Energy Company) and Pioneer Hi-Bred Limited (A DuPont Company) both have their Canadian head offices in Chatham.  The community is also home to a vibrant contact centre industry including YA Canada, and TransComInternational.

  The Thames Campus of St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology is located in Chatham.  This campus and several satellite locations through Chatham-Kent meets the educational and training needs of students, business and industry.

The main campus of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is located in Chatham.

Chatham has a wide range of recreational facilities such as athletic fields, jogging, bicycle and walking paths, playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic shelters, golf courses and boat docks.  It also has an abundance of tourist attractions available such as museums, an art gallery, indoor amusement park as well as two sites on the African Canadian Heritage Tour.

  Chatham is also home to the Chatham Cultural Centre, a unique facility hosting a live theatre, art gallery and museum under one roof. 
 

There are four golf courses in and around Chatham ranging from a challenging private club to a 9 hole par three executive course.

Chatham has an employment base of approximately 20,900.
