Don’t Muddy the Water Colours, Intermediate Watercolour Painting
Date: Wednesday, November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, December 6, 2017
Time: 6:00-9:00 PM in Studio Two, Chatham Cultural Centre
Instructor: Charlene McGill
Just about everyone who has tried their hand at watercolour painting has made mud, and there many rules about how and why an artist must not make mud – but why? Watercolour painting is known for its freshness and luminosity but a clever colourist knows that a good neutral, or a good muddy colour can in fact make a painting more luminous.
This intermediate level watercolour class will experiment with colour harmony, colour theory by mixing and glazing, and mixing wet into wet on paper versus palette.
Watercolour paper will be supplied. Returning watercolourists are reminded to bring their palettes and brushes, trolls, pencil and eraser. First time participants will need to purchase a watercolour palette from the Cultural Centre Box Office at a cost of $25 +HST.
