How-To Festival Coming to CKPL October 16 to 21!

Do you have a local business or special skill? CKPL is seeking community partners to showcase their expertise and teach a new skill at the How-To Festival. We want you to teach us How-To! 

How To FestivalWhat is the How-To Festival?

CKPL knows people love to learn new things but never have enough time! CKPL's How-To Festival offers 20 minute mini workshops hosted by staff and community partners and will feature a variety of fun, creative and interactive programs. From martial arts demonstrations and bee keeping to DIY chalk painting, the Festival will have something for everyone!   

How can I help?

The How-To Festival will run from October 16 to 21. Programs will be offered at CKPL branches from Monday to Friday with the grand finale at the Chatham Branch on Saturday, October 21. We need your help to make this event a success! Do you have a local business or special skill? The How-To Festival provides an opportunity to showcase your expertise, teach a new skill and promote your business/services to your community. CKPL will provide the space and you provide the skill!   

How can I apply?

CKPL is welcoming community partner applications until July 31. The application form can be found here. Completed forms can be submitted by email or printed and returned to any CKPL branch. Applicants can request to present their How-To workshop at any CKPL branch and have the opportunity to present at multiple locations during the How-To Festival. 

All applicants will be contacted by the How-To Festival team by mid-August. 

Are there guidelines for presentations?

CKPL is looking for fun, creative and hands-on programs for the How-To Festival.  Presenters must be able to present their skill in 20 minutes. Products cannot be sold at the Festival but business cards can be available for interested participants. Due to health and safety regulations, food samples cannot be dispensed and cooking demonstrations are not permitted.
