Library Catalogue

 Search the library catalogue to:

  • Search for resources available at all eleven CKPL branches
  • Check the availability of an item and place holds
  • Get reading ratings and recommendations
  • Access online databases and download digital books

Login to Your Account

Login to your personal CKPL account to:

  • View and renew items currently checked out
  • Place or cancel holds on specific items
  • Keep track of item due dates
  • Check for outstanding overdue charges
  • View and submit changes to your personal user information

Enter your library card number and PIN (the last four digits of your home phone number) and click "Login".

If you receive an error message, you may have entered your library barcode or PIN incorrectly, your library card may have expired or you may have outstanding overdue items or fines. Contact the library for assistance. Please visit any CKPL branch in person to renew your card or pay overdue fines.

Place a Hold Online

Once you have logged in to your account (see above), search for items of interest. Click on the "Request it" button to place a hold on an item. Choose your pickup location. Click the "Submit" button.

Renew an Item Online

Login to the online catalogue (see above) and click on your name at the top right of the page to access your account. Click the "Checkouts" option on the side navigation. Click the box to the left of the item(s) you wish to renew and click the "Renew Marked" button. You may select multiple items at once or click "Renew All" to renew all checked out items at the same time.

There are limits on the number of times an item can be renewed, especially if other patrons are waiting for it. The maximum number of times you may renew items online is twice (2). Call the library to find out if an item can be renewed more than twice.

Submit a "Suggestion for Purchase" Online

You may recommend a title not in our catalogue on our Purchase Suggestion page. You are also welcome to call the Information Desk at the Chatham Branch (519.354.2940 x232) to suggest a title not in the catalogue.

Trouble Accessing the Library Catalogue

To use the online catalogue from home, you need to use an up-to-date web browser.

Firewalls are the primary reason most users can't access the online catalogue. If you are using a workplace computer, you may have to ask your IT staff to open up your workplace’s firewall to allow access to the catalogue web address.

If you are accessing the online catalogue from home, you need to permit access to it in your firewall software. If you have not purchased firewall software, you may still have a firewall. Windows Firewall for example comes with Windows and is turned on by default. Access needs to be permitted through the operating system software. Please consult your firewall software documentation for assistance.
