Rabies Investigations

Report any animal bite to a human to the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit immediately.

Inspectors investigate all reports of animal bites to humans to determine possible rabies exposure.

If exposed to a suspected rabid animal, we will provide rabies vaccine to your physician to treat you.

Mandatory Pet Vaccination

It is the law to have your dog and cat immunized against rabies (Rabies Immunization Regulations). If you fail to have your dog or cat immunized against rabies, you will be subject to a fine.
