Alcohol & Substance Misuse

Alcohol has been linked with over 60 diseases or conditions.

Alcohol can cause high blood pressure, stroke, irregular heart beats, and cancers of the mouth, voice box, throat, esophagus, colon, rectum, liver and breast.

So when it comes to alcohol and chronic disease, keep in mind......

  • If you don't drink, don't start for the health benefits.
  • Potential protective effects of drinking small amounts of alcohol do not apply to everyone.
  • If you drink, follow the Low-Risk Drinking Guidelines.
