Exercises at the Kitchen Sink
Improve your balance and prevent a fall. Falls in
older adults often happen because of a lack of balance
or the inability to regain balance.
The Chatham-Kent Falls Coalition created a DVD and book, “Exercises at the Kitchen Sink” for healthy older adults to follow to prevent falls.
The exercises on the DVD:
- are easy to follow
- improve strength and balance
- are available to borrow from your local Chatham-Kent Public Library
For most people being active should not be a problem. It is a good idea before you start any new activity or increase your current activity level to speak with your doctor or health care provider and discuss what activity is right for you.
This project was funded in part by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors program. The exercises on the DVD include seven activities from the Strategies and Actions for Independent Living Program, British Columbia.
