Community Relations Program
A Community Relations Worker position was developed and initiated in June 2014. It was recognized that there is a need for connection between community resources, agencies and community members. The Community Relations Worker works with residents of social housing in Wallaceburg to ensure that they are aware of the resources and supports available in the community and to assist in making a connections if or when the need arises.
In September 2015, municipal council approved the hiring of an additional Community Realtions Worker for the central Chatham area, in partnership with the Community Mobilzation Project. This position will soon be implemented and will assist all residents that live in the specified central Chatham area.
The Role of the Community Relation Workers
The role of the Community Relations Worker (CRW) is to provide support to the tenant and liaison between the landlord and the tenant.
CRWs also work with community based agencies that work with tenants and landlords to help make our community stronger.
Your CRW can be an advisor, a listener, or simply someone to turn to.
What We Do
CRWs can be contacted for support and assistance in resolving issues that may put their tenancy at risk such as:
- Job loss/Arrears
- Issues affecting eligibility for rent geared to income
- Form Completion
CRWs can provide tenants with support and referrals to agencies who can assist with:
- Health services
- Social assistance programs
- Mental health issues
- Parenting issues
- Illness or disability concerns
