Commercial Community Improvement Plan (CCIP)

The purpose of the Commercial Community Improvement Plan (CCIP) is to establish strategic direction and financial incentive programs for the commercial neighbourhoods outside of the downtown areas of Chatham-Kent, identified as being in need of community improvement "because of age, dilapidation, overcrowding, faulty arrangement, unsuitability of buildings or for any other environmental, social or community economic development reason" (Section 28 (1) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P. 13).

The CCIP Plan identified eleven commercial neighbourhoods in the Communities of Blenheim, Chatham, Dresden, Ridgetown, Tilbury and Wallaceburg in need of community improvement for one or more of the above noted reasons. Maps illustrating each of the eleven neighbourhoods, and justification and background for the eleven neighbourhoods inclusion in the CCIP can be found in the CCIP Study available in the download section on the right-hand column of this web page.
